Woodsy Wisdom

Woodsy Wisdom is an adorable quilt for a child up to 4 ft tall. I pulled together leftover blocks from several quilts plus used a panel of sweet animals imparting little wisdoms. My favourite is the hedgehog stating “be yourself”. The blocks are all from Moda fabric designers and there is a cohesion of earthy colours and images.

Main Fabric Line: The panel and some rail fence block are from Effies Woods by Deb Strain. The whirly blocks are from Midnight in the Garden by Sweetfire Road and the additional rail fence blocks are from Dawn on the Prairie by Fancy That Design.

Backing: Sweet brown and gold plaid from Ponderosa collection by Stacy Iest Hsu.

Binding: Light gold “x” print by Elizabeth Hartman

Quilting: Diagonal Lines using walking foot. Thread: Aurifil light gold

A child sized quilt can be used for several years starting with baby and spanning in to the toddler years. I make quilts that I think kids will like and hopefully this one will make a child feel cozy and comforted.

Materials: All new 100% cotton quilting fabrics. Quality 100% cotton batting which is natural, breathable, soft and adds a lovely cosiness to the quilt. Double fold binding is machine stitched to the quilt. Fabrics have not been pre-washed so first washing will produce a delightfully wrinkly result and 3-5% shrinkage will occur.
