Kira

Kira is a wonderful pattern to make. I love how the little triangles accent the patchwork. I’ve made it in a cool colour way - blues, tans and cream and a warm colour way - brick red, coral, tans and golds.

I basically made the quilts double sided by piecing a backing using another quilt pattern and scrap backings from previous quilts. Truly unique quilts!

These would be wonderful at the foot of twin beds.

Quilting: Free motion quilted first in the ditch on the diagonal and then I stitched petal shapes within this remaining spaces.

A note about free motion quilting. This is achieved using a sewing machine with no feed dogs. Fabric is moved under the needle to “doodle” a design. Speed and direction is controlled entirely by hand movements.

If you plan to use this quilt on a bed please measure your bed and take note of the dimensions of the quilt. It can be folded at the foot of a larger bed for napping or for colder nights.

Materials: All new 100% cotton quilting fabrics. Quality 80% cotton 20% poly batting which is breathable, soft and adds a lovely cosiness to the quilt. Double fold binding is machine stitched to the quilt. Fabrics have not been pre-washed so first washing will produce a delightfully wrinkly result and 3-5% shrinkage will occur.
