Around the Garden

This quilt is a fresh take on the “Trip Around the World” quilt. Garden and nature inspired prints including: birds, butterflies, dragonflies, bees, gnomes, mushrooms, florals, rainbows and a special appearance of Mother Nature herself (not really!) The overall look is very soft and happy.

The centre is a birds and birdhouse print with aqua, blue, pink, yellow and green. I pulled all of the prints from these colours plus some neutral prints.

A young at heart quilt for anyone!

Backing: Modern Quilt Studio green on white

Binding: Cori Dantini rainbow strips by Free Spirit

Pattern: Coriander Quilts “Around Town”

Quilting: Free motion quilted in a diagonal grid which forms pretty diamonds.

A note about free motion quilting. This is achieved using a sewing machine with no feed dogs. Fabric is moved under the needle to “doodle” a design. Speed and direction is controlled entirely by hand movements.

Thread: Aurifil 2312 Ermine

If you plan to use this quilt on a bed please measure your bed and take note of the dimensions of the quilt. It can be folded at the foot of a larger bed for napping or for colder nights.

Materials: All new 100% cotton quilting fabrics. Quality 100% cotton batting which is natural, breathable, soft and adds a lovely cosiness to the quilt. Double fold binding is machine stitched to the quilt. Fabrics have not been pre-washed so first washing will produce a delightfully wrinkly result and 3-5% shrinkage will occur.
