Periwinkle Dreams

As the name indicates I leaned into shades of periwinkle for many of the prints in this quilt. I curated a collection of fabrics using smaller scale prints. The pops of small white squares makes the look very fresh and light hearted. A great cottage quilt or if you are like me pretend you have a cottage and just enjoy the vibe! The backing is a gorgeous Rifle Paper Co print from the Curio collection as is the binding fabric.

Main Fabric Line: assorted prints including Tilda dots, reproduction 30’s, reproduction feed sack prints and contemporary prints.

Accent Fabric: White squares are an assortment of white on white prints.

Backing: a beautiful tulip print from the Curio collection by Rifle Paper Co.

Binding: a coordination tulip and greenery stripe also from the Curio collection

Pattern: Fat Quarter 4 patch by Fat Quarter Shop

Quilting: Free motion quilted first in a diagonal crosshatch and then in a perpendicular serpentine design.

A note about free motion quilting. This is achieved using a sewing machine with no feed dogs. Fabric is moved under the needle to “doodle” a design. Speed and direction is controlled entirely by hand movements. In this quilt I used a specialty ruler for the straight lines.

Thread: Aurifil Lilac

If you plan to use this quilt on a bed please measure your bed and take note of the dimensions of the quilt. It can be folded at the foot of a larger bed for napping or for colder nights.

Materials: All new 100% cotton quilting fabrics. Quality 100% cotton batting which is natural, breathable, soft and adds a lovely cosiness to the quilt. Double fold binding is machine stitched to the quilt. Fabrics have not been pre-washed so first washing will produce a delightfully wrinkly result and 3-5% shrinkage will occur.
