Westminister Rails

I love how this very random assortment of retro prints come together to make this happy quilt. Super soft and cuddly quilt.

Main Fabric Line: Fabrics are from a collection of retro fabrics from the former Westminister Fabrics in and around the 90’s

Backing: scrappy backing with three chunks emphasising the colour yellow.

Binding: scrappy collection also from Westminster Fabrics.

Pattern: Simple 10” rail fence block

Long Arm Quilting: I free motion quilted this starting with the shape of an ellipse and simply echoing round it.

A note about free motion quilting. This is achieved using a sewing machine with no feed dogs. Fabric is moved under the needle to “doodle” a design. Speed and direction is controlled entirely by hand movements.

Thread: Aurifil Marrakech variegated

If you plan to use this quilt on a bed please measure your bed and take note of the dimensions of the quilt. It can be folded at the foot of a larger bed for napping or for colder nights.

Materials: All new 100% cotton quilting fabrics. Quality 100% cotton batting which is natural, breathable, soft and adds a lovely cosiness to the quilt. Double fold binding is machine stitched to the quilt. Fabrics have not been pre-washed so first washing will produce a delightfully wrinkly result and 3-5% shrinkage will occur.
